to live:

alaskamiller:

You are not the first, and you will not be the last, to turn 25. Don’t get too wrapped up in jealousy of those ahead of you or those behind you. In someways you’re like the others but you’re also unlike them. The four ID cards in your wallet proves that. Don’t pretend the opposite, even for just a little bit.

Understand that whatever you think or decide now is just a representation of this period in your life and does not necessarily reflect how your life is going to be lived until you die. Think hard about your gut intuition; deep down inside you know what’s right.

Allow yourself to make mistakes and take chances. If you go after the girl maybe it won’t lead to anything, maybe they’ll come and go, but it doesn’t mean you’re going to die alone. If you tried at your startup maybe you’ll have a wrecked credit score, maybe you can get one paying customer, but it doesn’t mean you’ve squandered your chances at success.

Learn every nanometre of the boundaries to what you want, what you need, what you can have, then work hard to invade those borders. This time in your life that should be all that you’re masterminding. Remember: as you get older the price for a ticket to you will just get more and more expensive, if they’re your friends they’ll have to get in line and pay the full price because you’ve been waiting on them your whole life.

Be real. Be sensible. Be loving. Be sure. Be humble. Be gracious. Be curious. Be tolerant. Be kind. Be ready. Be patient. These instructions may not automatically or directly result in happiness but you have to believe.

wow. i so needed this. i think i need to read this every day.
